2018-2019 Events
Houston Food Bank
In November, we teamed up with the Rho Chi Society, Beta Omicron Chapter to give back to the community before Thanksgiving. With the Houston Food Bank team and volunteers, we were able to sort 21,000 pounds of food and provided 17,500 meals to families in need.
Professional Clothing Drive
During the month of March, our chapter set up donation boxes throughout the building. The drive was open to students and faculty in the College of Pharmacy and College of Optometry. At the end we were able to donate 200+ items to “Dress for Success Houston”!
Faculty Fundraiser Raffle
This year, we started the First Annual UHCOP Professor Raffle. This was created to give students a great opportunity to network with their professors in a relaxed setting without any added pressure. We were originally going to donate 50%, but because of the success of this event, we are increasing the amount to 75%! A total of $417 will be donated to H.O.M.E.S. Clinic!
Gulf Coast Regional
Blood Center
The PLS Upsilon Chapter often collaborates with the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center to host blood drives on the University of Houston Campus. Members helped screen and recruit blood donors as well as answer frequently asked questions regarding blood donations. PLS occasionally teams up with the University of Houston Rho Chi Society to bring these events to life.
Be The Match
Bone Marrow Drive
The PLS Upsilon chapter often collaborates with Be The Match to hold bone marrow drives. A representative from the Be The Match organization and members help educate students and answer questions about donating. With some paperwork and a quick cheek swab, students can join the bone marrow registry to potentially save a life. PLS occasionally teams up with the University of Houston Rho Chi Society to bring these events to life.
